Dr Nana Ayew Afriye Sues Rev. Owusu Bempah Over Alleged Defamatory Claims
Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah and the Glorious Word Power Ministry International.

The suit was filed at the High Court in Accra following comments Rev. Owusu Bempah allegedly made during a church service on September 6, 2026.
According to the statement of claim, Rev. Owusu Bempah alleged that some NPP figures had planned to send individuals to disrupt his church and mentioned Dr Ayew Afriye among those he claimed were behind the alleged plot.
Dr Ayew Afriye has rejected the allegations, describing the statements as false and defamatory. He argues that the claims portray him as someone who conspired to orchestrate an attack on the pastor and his church, potentially damaging his reputation among the public and his constituents.
The matter reportedly escalated after Dr Ayew Afriye demanded a retraction and evidence to support the allegations. According to the suit, Rev. Owusu Bempah subsequently indicated that he would not withdraw the statements and invited the MP to pursue the matter in court.
Dr Ayew Afriye Demands GH¢10 Million
As part of the reliefs being sought, Dr Ayew Afriye is demanding GH¢10 million in damages.
He is also seeking an order requiring Rev. Owusu Bempah and the church to retract the alleged defamatory statements and issue a public apology. The suit further seeks an injunction preventing similar statements from being made in the future, as well as legal costs.
The case is now set to become a closely watched legal battle involving a sitting MP and a prominent Ghanaian preacher.
